I've been a busybody. Boo.

I went to Stephen & Ming's holiday party today, and I met two more Cindy's. In my experience, Cindy's are a very cool breed.

Cindy Y is rather new to the Bay area, but I knew her as one of the original founders of ITASA when she was going to school on the east coast. She, along with some of the original big-wigs of the 2nd gen Taiwanese American community, created a legacy for our student community like no other.

Cindy H #2, also a lawyer, used to be quite active in the Taiwanese American community as well. It turns out we have a handful of mutual friends, including some long-lost connections from as far away as Texas. The first thing I said to her when we were introduced was, "you look so familiar... why?" Well, it turned out that she is Nancy's sister, and their aunt runs the Taiwanese American newspaper so familiar to our community.

I should also mention Cindy C, who is super-active with the FAPA YPG group. She recently helped to organize an election observation tour in Taiwan. The interesting thing is that Carolyn was on that trip, and their entire group met old TAFer Eric C and old college friend Felicia L, who apparently were speakers for the group.

I must not forget to mention two more Cindy's.

There is the original Cindy H #1, my oldest and possibly only friend, and who is just the coolest and hippest Cindy out there. She helps to make things happen in Hollywood. You can't get more real than her.

And then locally, there is the very adorable Cindy L who I admire dearly, but she doesn't quite know it. She may eventually grow to become one of the big mover and shakers of our Taiwanese American community.

So there it is - evidence why you should name your future child Cindy.

OK, off to holiday party #2 for the day...

I swear the place I rent DVDs from is out to get me. Even if I return the videos on time, hand them the videos directly, they tack on two-day late fees... It's a mean world out there.

Yesterday, I somehow volunteered to organize what will hopefully be the largest gathering of 2nd gen Taiwanese Americans in the Bay area in conjunction with the Taiwanese community's Lunar New Year festivities. So friends, a great time to visit will be the weekend of February 17 next year...

And, a few weeks ago, Jon and I somehow managed to convince some leaders in the LA Taiwanese community that we would be able to revive and rejuvenate their 2nd gen Taiwanese American winter and summer conferences...

I need to keep my mouth shut in general I think.

Welcome Amy & Dan! Farewell to Andy & James. SF is the place to be!

I never really post videos... but I can't stop raving about Susan and Emily of the indie pop band Exit Clov. These girls are just awesome! I love their sound and smart lyrics. Check out the interview I did with them a couple months ago for TaiwaneseAmerican.org!

As a physician, I'm the one who is supposed to make evaluations and dole out advice. Tonight, the tables were unexpectedly turned on me as a patient's aunt felt it was in my best interest to do a psychic reading for me on the spot. I was too kind to refuse.

Apparently, I have a good heart and only know how to give to others. What I show on the outside isn't who I am on the inside. And people just don't see the real me. Furthermore, my love life has only been full of heartbreak, one after another... most recently shattered by someone who I care for dearly and secretly...

There was more to the story, and I was intrigued. Except, she said I had to provide "a little financial donation" in order to hear the rest of the psychic reading.

Having suddenly lost interest in my future, and looking for a graceful way to end this conversation, I replied, "I can't accept such services in a setting like this due to ethical and legal guidelines.

"We could take this transation outside," she countered.

"I can't leave the clinic," I whispered.

She quickly whispered back, "no one has to know."

With my best I'm-so-disappointed face on, I leaned toward her and responded, "you're so good at reading me, you probably could've predicted that I have to say no."

"Yea..."

"Hey, little Susy is looking alot better... I guess you can go home now! G'nite!"

I took a bite out of a gingersnap cookie yesterday, which promptly made me want to vomit. Who invented this type of cookie anyways? Were they desperate for baking supplies? Anyways, I've discarded my plan for the Gingerbread Condo and will go for plan B: the Marshmallow Igloo...

I want to make a gingerbread high-rise condo and then invite all my friends over to eat it.

Jesse and Rochelle left my place this morning, and are now en route to their new home in Hawaii. That's like one step closer to retirement. I'll miss them, but hey, it's one more vacation spot for me...
