Yes, I have many friends who visit California and enjoy staying at my apartment. The guest room is nice, there's an extra bathroom, and the view of the Bay is quite spectacular, I agree. My visitors usually have nice things to say about their stay. And now I realize that this is where the stuff of legend begins. For example, a not-to-be-named young friend of mine has imagined what it might be like to one day visit "Hotel HoChie," and apparently, I am a gourmet chef too. Hmmm... maybe it is true.

I am approaching hour 17 of a 24 hour shift... I'm pooped. And I haven't had time to pee.

And people think I don't work...

Just a little preview of the next Taiwanese American event that I'm organizing here in the Bay area... That would be a good weekend to come out and visit, my friends. Some of the "celebrity" panel speakers that have told me they will come include Karen Lin, film maker and music video producer (perhaps giving us a sneak peek of the premiere of her next project to be shown at the San Francisco Asian American International Film Festival) and Tyson Mao, Rubik's cube record-holder and star of the TV reality show Beauty and the Geek, Season 2 (who might just have to do a blind solve of the cube for us live at the event).

I'll keep hush for now on the other potential panelists...

Sometimes you don't realize how dark it's been, until you see a brighter light. Sometimes you don't know that obstacles really can turn out to be insightful lessons to share. We all deal with challenges and fears that hold us back, make us uncertain about our abilities. That is the experience of life.

But, in the process of confronting the fears and the darker thoughts, well, that's where the interesting life stories emerge...
