Why am I so restless? I can't seem to ever sit still and just be satisfied or content. I always want to delve into the next project hoping to do some good in the world. Even as I sit here at work on an overnight shift, my mind keeps planning, planning, planning...

I need to chill out.

I went to a Taiwanese Bazaar today and was surrounded by lots of Taiwanese people and ate too much yummy Taiwanese food. I need more meals like that...

As I made my way down to LA today, my car was indicating to me that it is ready to die. At least, that's what I understand all that trembling and shaking to mean. I think it may explode if I drive anywhere close to 83 mph. I was not driving that fast, of course...

I dragged Jenny and Dave around all day, and we went to Flushing to eat some Taiwanese food. Afterwards, we went to see an exhibit sponsored by the Taiwan Center and Yi-Miao's cultural boutique. While there, I was introduced to Emily and Ding, who help to run a group called Taiwan Women, which also happens to be linked to my TaiwaneseAmerican.org site... Small world.

Me, Ding, Yi-Miao, and Emily.

Dinner with Jenny, Margaret, Audris, and Dave.

Wine and pies for dessert.

I'm in New York for my self-designed long weekend vacation plus semi-educational medical conference. Tonight, I'm meeting up with folks at Stain, a hipster-ish lounge in Brooklyn where Dave is performing tonight...

He plays guitar...

and piano.

I'm quite excited today seeing the results of yesterday's mid-term elections, with Democrats regaining control of the House and the Senate. I think the tide has finally turned, with so many historic moments: The first Muslim congressman (Minnesota), The first female Speaker of the House (California), the second elected African American governor (Massachusetts). And in local races, Korean American Jane Kim winning the highest number of votes for SF School Board, and Taiwanese American John Chiang winning Controller of California.

The diverse faces, backgrounds, and ideas represented by our leadership is where tolerance begins. Our world and our country need a little more of that right now.

It's been a quiet week for me... just working, cafe hopping, and catching up on TV and movies...
