It was a rough weekend, and now I don't want to get out of bed.

Seriously, if you ask someone (like me) days before the weekend arrives, how to call in sick, then at least figure out who it is (coincidentally me) that will be called in to work for you. If you go home "sick" early on a Friday and then call in sick for Sunday, then you really better be sick. If you call in sick on a holiday long weekend, and someone (like me) has to cover your 24 hour shift, then you better be damn sick, sleeping in bed all weekend. But, I have a feeling it's too sunny for that.
If I sound bitter, that's because I am. And I'm no dummy.

As people walk by with ipods in hand or plugged into their portable mp3 players, I can only wonder what the soundtrack of their life sounds like...

My dad, who is generally very reserved when it comes to expressing feelings, sent me a very touching email today since my "graduation" is coming up in a couple of weeks. I was touched, but I have to admit that I didn't really know how to react. And then I realized I'm probably alot like him after all.

I have a green thumb after all. I finally made something grow... and it went into my sandwich tonight. I just hope it wasn't a weed of some sort.

I've got a "date" with Harmony. We're going to watch the musical Cats. Both those statements are a bit disturbing...

I totally grew up with the original Star Wars movies. Once I watch the final installment of the Star Wars series, I'm pretty sure life will feel complete, and I can die in peace. Oddly enough, I'm sure there are people out there who share my views.
Anyways, Boba Fett is the coolest character ever. Princess Leia was a babe. And I've still got a crush on Natalie Portman.

My old friend Nayoung is visiting from Chicago and hung out with me this evening. We met up with Susan for dinner at Unicorn, a pan-Asian restaurant in Berkeley. Our meal was particularly tasty, and dessrt - the chocolate cake - was to die for. I must make a mental note to go there with friends late at night just for dessert and coffee...
Chicago friends.
I went to watch the Bay to Breakers race/costume extravaganza this morning. Among the hundreds of creatively costumed individuals, I also counted over a dozen nekkid men and women running the race. Amusing, yes. But not very impressive human specimens. I'm referring to the beer bellies mostly.

I was watching some BBQ show on the Food Network this afternoon. I became awfully hungry. Fortunately, Stephen prepared some great BBQ for his dinner party this evening. Now I'm not hungry anymore. End of story.

I have no idea who my friend Raj is talking about, but I'm amused nonetheless. Here's an excerpt from an email he sent to a group of our old med school friends today:
"I am in India right now... a couple of more days left before I return. I was visiting a relative of Anita's in Chennai. She happens to be a subcontractor, doing transcription work... has about 20 employees working out of a home office. She was eager to talk to me because I am a resident. It turns out that one of the 3 hospitals she does work for is Oakland Children's Hospital. She knows Ho Chie, can you believe that... even in India, the women here know Ho Chie... You're the man...."
Yea. I'm an international stud muffin. So, babe, how YOU doin'?

My brother Gary and me. Even then, I was quite aware of being different.

Watching DVDs while eating chocolate-covered popcorn for breakfast - not a bad start to an otherwise hazy foggy day...

I spent the day with Mengting and her temporary roommate, Sandra, who is looking for her own place to live here in SF. Although the plan was initially to go check out some fair in Sausalito, Mengting and I actually ended up apartment-hunting with Sandra. It was actually quite fun "touring" around the neighborhoods, circling the city streets and blocks, and stopping spontaneously apartments flagged with "For Rent" signs posted in their windows. In the end, I felt quite appreciative that I was lucky enough to find such a great apartment some three years ago now. In fact, three years ago today, I moved out of my residence throughout all of medical school. How time flies.

I've been wasting my time watching silly videos like this. And spoofs of that video. And more spoofs... Though, I don't think the Japanese really got it. Very popular among the younger set, it seems.
I need to get a life.

I am seriously counting down weeks toward the end of my Residency. I'm literally running on fumes. "Baby steps," I tell myself, "Just gotta make it to the end..."

I'm so exhausted right now... My head hurts, my body aches... I don't even care that I've been sitting in my room with all the lights off all evening. I'm sure if I get up too fast, I'm gonna pass out... Not good.
