I am tired. I'd rather be a beach bum right now.

I've been putting in crazy hours during this long weekend while at home and at work and cranking out a new web design for NATMA.

I'm obviously not working too hard at the doctoring part...

There are times when certain events, experiences, people, or feelings change our life paths. At the time, we are not likely to be aware of how profound those moments will prove to be. Maybe they can only be obvious in retrospect. Or maybe when diverging paths unexpectedly cross again can warm and sentimental memories tucked away in the dusty corners of our brains resurface.

These life-changing moments may be the grand events of our lives - perhaps a wedding, a family reunion, or a celebration of achievement - but most of the time, they are the cumulative sum of relatively smaller encounters and experiences.

They turn out to be the people we met long ago, the shared experiences that impacted our identities, the loves of our lives that made us glow, the dear cherished friendships that survived time and distance, so on and so forth. And they are the people, places, and events that fill our hearts in the present. Our lives are the summation of all these meaningful bits and pieces.

For all the ups and downs, the zigs and the zags that have brought me to where I am today, I am certainly grateful. Because in looking backward, from where I came, I know how to look forward and appreciate the future that is yet to be.

But most importantly, thank you, my friends of the past and present, for making me who I am today.

Taiwanese American Heritage Week is coming up... I'm helping to organize the booths representing the 2nd generation organizations and TaiwaneseAmerican.org. Since it takes place in the middle of Union Square in downtown San Francisco, it should be a rather huge event. If you're in the area, come check it out. There's more info on the Evite. Click here.

Oh, and here's another fantastic reason to come and check out the TaiwaneseAmerican.org booth!

Lester was back in town, so of course a TAF gathering was organized over dim sum. This was the most random assortment of TAF folks so far, including Stephanie, Albert, Bryan, Larry, Anna, Lester, Kevin, Justin, Amy, me, and Dan. Counting Nancy, Alan, Paul, Steve, Cindy, Brendan, Harmony, Tim, Maggie, Chris, Stephen, and others... we have well over 20+ TAF people here in the Bay area. Amazing.

I've been so busy lately. And when I think about it, I'm not sure what I'm busy with. It's as if I have so many things I'm supposed to accomplish, so many places I have to be, and too many people I have to serve. I'm heading full force into the future, but certainly uncertain if it's the right direction. Be here? Be there? Be everywhere? Go forward? Take pause? Re-think? Re-work? Dream? Hope?

I'm not even sure why I've started questioning myself recently... Could a simple conversation with someone I hardly know really be the reason?

I've had random encounters all day while cafe hopping. The first was with Ailien at Cafe Strada. I haven't seen her in months. Then afterwards at the local tea house, Linda and Bryan arrived soon after me, followed by Young and Lindsey. It was as if there was a scheduled meeting...

Coincidental meeting.
